Hello! I'm an avid Forgejo lover and appreciator of what Codeberg stands for.

I'll cut straight to the point: I don't like GitHub, and I don't want my presence here to be tied to that platform. I regret the way I've created my account as it seems certain limitations apply that I want to do away with. (Like not being able to change my name, if I wished)

Is there a way to "migrate" or otherwise make my account fully local to Codeberg without deleting it and recreating it? If not by myself, could a site admin perhaps help a homie out? Given that issue, this leads me to suspect that my account is different somehow. If my account is different, I'd rather my account be converted into whatever amounts to "normal" and not be some proxy user with strange limitations.

Thanks. I really want to migrate my stuff here, but I'd like to get this squared away first.

It doesn't answer your question about usernames, but you can set a password in account settings so you don't need GitHub to sign in.

Oh yes, I've actually done this. I'm unsure if this perhaps makes my account "native" now? I'm hoping I can get an answer soon as the ramifications of having my account initially be derived from a github signup are hazy.

I want to ensure I don't have - or somehow am able to cut - any ties my account has to github.

It's possible to switch it. If you've set a password I can do the switch for you.

That would be splendid! I've set up a password already - fire away whenever is convenient!
